You are separating and you jointly own your home, what now? In many cases, you will need a deed of division.
If you jointly own your home and you want one of you to become the sole owner, this must be arranged by a notary. The notary will draw up a deed of division and ensure that it is registered with the Land Registry. This applies both to the termination of a cohabitation relationship and to a divorce.
Make arrangements with each other and with the bank regarding your mortgage debt. Ensure that the person who is leaving is no longer liable for this debt. Agree with your partner on all assets and debts and decide who will take or assume what.
